Amazing

It was a dream holiday, really enjoyed it to the fullest

At the pool area they have a public toilet with glass walls, not very private. They serve Carlsberg instead of nice tiger beer.

Village over water nearby causing plastic waste to was up on shore. The garbage from this village is evident at the mainland wharf.

Wonderful for a couple

Wonderful staycation, food and rooms! Truly relaxing and bliss. Shoutout to the resort for doing a lot to preserve and refurbish the environment, corals and beaches around the island! The hotel staff were also super accomodating of us being vegetarians and made effort to add extra options to the buffet breakfast which was a very kind gesture!

Rooms are rather far, property is definitely not infant friendly. Then again i guess their target is more honeymoon couples than families with children.

Beautiful resort but overpriced .

Small beautiful resort with comfortable accommodation

We were there during the low season and it was not too crowded. During the high season I suspect that because it is a small resort with not a lot of grounds it may feel crowded.

Nice stay in a very good beach resort

The resort is located in an exclusive spot surrounded by nature and the villas are very comfortable and with great views. Staff are welcoming and try to be helpful. Food is good quality and there is a range of activities offered by the hotel. Private beach is the best spot for relaxing and snorkeling. Special thanks to Jovara from the reception staff who was the most helpful, nice, friendly of all staff. She made our stay much better!

A few things: - the island is very close to the city so the surrounding nature is definitely not the best in east Borneo. - staff is nice but often their English is not good and overall quality of service not up to standard you’d expect - food options can become repetitive and not great value for money - when the hotel is full, not enough sun beds by the pool - we never stayed at the pool because it was too crowded - after dinner, there are usually no activities.. it can become slightly boring being confined on an island with no other resorts or pass times - overall, the resort is really nice but there is a general feeling of being “trapped” as there are very strict schedules for boats (even to the resort private beach), to the city, no access to the nature in the island, etc. I didn’t dislike my stay, I would have probably spent less than 4 nights, but also in hindsight I would probably go somewhere else.

Excellent hotel and luxury just off KK.

Excellent facilities, location, service and rooms. I thought the eco nature of the resort was excellent especially the outstanding private beach, turtle sanctuary and coral growing. Loved being away from the day trippers too, but with all of the activities!

There were some communication errors at the beginning as we were shown restaurants and activities but not told they were fully booked until we went to book them. This seemed avoidable or perhaps informing us before we arrived might have helped. However, staff did work to make things happen for us.

Wonderful

The location was amazing and the views were lovely. The food at the bar and in the restaurants was exceptional. All the staff were so friendly and accommodating.

The journey to the pool area from the room was very long, lots of hills. I would only stay here again if I had a villa next to the pool area. Perhaps the resort could invest in some eco friendly buggies to take guests back to their villas if they stay at the top?

Amazing stay in a very beautiful place

We loved our stay on Gaya Island. The rooms are massive with beautiful bathrooms, ours had an amazing view. Nice toiletries and robe and other little touches in the room. The food was excellent, the buffet and both the restaurants had a great selection which was all delicious. We really enjoyed the private beach and the snorkelling, it was gorgeous with lots of fish. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We loved it!

More regular boat transfers to Kota Kinabalu would be great

Rooms and environment is very nice. I loved the nature of the hotel. Personel is very friendly and helpful. There are also fun activities in the hotel such as jungle walking, diving.

Restaurants are good but too expensive considering the quality.

Love it!

Everything! The check in process at the jetty, the staff, the resort itself, the room, the pool, the beach, the activities.. The food was also great. I honestly didnt have anything I dislike. Just remember to Reserve what you want to do and/or the place you want to eat early to avoid disappointment.

The only thing I felt I had to "deal" with were mosquitos. It's a tropical island afterall. Perhaps another thing would be the distance to the spa.. Perhaps they could consider providing some sort of shuttle service to go all the way to the end of the resort.

Incredible experience

Absolutely incredible place. More of an experience than just a hotel or resort. The whole place, the people, everything was beyond what I could have imagined. More expensive than other places we stayed in Sabah but 100% worth it. Would also like to highlight the individuals that made it all the more special. Linda, Jenny, Dickson and the chef in the cooking class were fantastic and really added a lovely personal touch that made us feel so welcome during our time there.

On the last night was kept up by the sound of a rat biting and scratching in the floorboards above. Obviously taking into account how natural our surroundings are, we were fine with this the majority of the time. Only this spoilt sleep on the last night.

Awesome

Welcoming staff in particular the restaurants’ chefs. Swimming pool and beach were fantastic and not that busy.

Substantial extra charges for pretty much all the activities. Hotel kept on insisting to charge us for the taxi transfer from the airport even though we had cancelled it days before.

Good staff, great food. Great activities during the day. Attentive buffet food service at feast village.

Could have been a little cleaner in bathrooms - bath tub had dead insects inside the basin which made us hesitant to use.

Not the best spot for a romantic get away

Beautiful, well taken care of Resort. The staff was wonderful and never passed you without saying good morning, good afternoon or good evening. Loved having options for our evening meal besides a standard buffet (that got old after a month on Borneo). The pool was beautiful and they have the BEST beach chairs ever!

The property was beautiful, varied food and options to eat were great and staff was wonderful but for the money to stay there to rest and relax our last week of vacation, we were super disappointed that we had to “escape” the beautiful pool because of SO MANY screaming kids 24/7 (rude and obnoxious parents and we even saw someone washing out their dish in the pool!!!) Even the “adult” beach area there was kids running around and yelling. Not a peaceful spot if you want a quiet vacation and it stunk to not be able to use all the facilities we paid for. Would be nice to have a kids pool somewhere away from the bar area so adults without kids can enjoy the pool/bar area.

Nice

Beautiful location, we saw monitor lizards right outside our room (they're much larger than I thought they'd be).

Food was ok but not fantastic, and pretty expensive, as was the mandatory boat ride.
